We know Lord Hanuman for his strength, bravery, and his loyalty to Lord Rama. But, when he was just a little child, he was full of energy, mischief, and curiosity—like most children. One day, he looked up at the sky and saw the sun shining brightly. In his innocent mind, he thought the sun was a giant, ripe fruit. Excited by the idea of grabbing it, Hanuman decided to fly up and take it.
Hanuman didn’t stop to think about whether the sun was too far away or too big to reach. He didn’t worry about the dangers or whether it was possible. Instead, he followed his curiosity and leaped into the sky, determined to grab that fruit.
As Hanuman soared closer to the sun, his boldness began to catch the attention of the gods. They started to worry that Hanuman might hurt himself, so Indra had to intervene. He struck Hanuman with his thunderbolt, sending him tumbling back to Earth with a broken jaw. Although Hanuman was injured, this incident eventually led to him being blessed with even greater powers and wisdom.
Hanuman’s innocent curiosity is what set this entire adventure in motion. He didn’t know what the sun really was, but his curiosity pushed him to find out. In our lives, curiosity is what fuels our passion and desire to explore. Whether it’s a new career, hobby, or passion project, following that spark of curiosity can lead us to new, exciting places. Just like Hanuman’s leap toward the sun, pursuing what excites us might take us farther than we expect.
Hanuman made a mistake—he thought the sun was a fruit and ended up getting hurt. But it made him stronger and wiser in the long run. Similarly, we shouldn’t fear failure when we chase our dreams. Mistakes are part of the journey, and they often teach us valuable lessons. Like Hanuman, we might stumble, but every wrong step helps us grow and prepares us for greater things.
Hanuman’s adventure of reaching for the sun is a reminder that sometimes we need to approach life and our dreams with the same childlike wonder and curiosity. We need to dream big, be bold, and not worry too much about the obstacles in our way. Just like Hanuman flew toward the sun without second-guessing himself, we too should leap toward our goals without being afraid to make mistakes.
What’s the "sun" you’re reaching for today? Let Hanuman’s story inspire you to go after it with the same playful innocence and determination.
