Lalita Panchami
The fifth day of Sharad Navratri honours Lalita Tripura Sundari — the Sri Vidya goddess whose yantra is the Sri Chakra. The vrata, called Upang Lalita, is kept chiefly in Gujarat and Maharashtra, where devotees recite the Lalita Sahasranama from the Brahmanda Purana.

About
Lalita's story sits inside the Brahmanda Purana. After Shiva burned Kama to ash, the demon Bhandasura rose from those ashes and seized the three worlds. The gods invoked the Supreme Devi, who descended from Manidweepa as Lalita Tripura Sundari — armed with a sugarcane bow, five flower arrows, a noose and a goad. Her campaign is a war fought by women: her commander Dandini rode the Giri Chakra and her minister Mantrini rode the Geya Chakra, while the child-goddess Bala slew Bhandasura's son and the brothers Vishukra and Vishanga were cut down. The 1000 names of the Lalita Sahasranama, revealed by Hayagriva to sage Agastya, retell this victory. Reciting them is the heart of the Upang Lalita Vrat — "upang" meaning a subsidiary vow kept alongside the main Navratri worship.
