Festival Date, Tithi & Muhurat
Hindu festivals are tied to a specific Tithi, not a fixed date — so the day shifts every year and even varies slightly across cities.
Open the Panchanga for the festival day to see the exact Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana and Shubh Muhurat for pooja in your location.
The Dharmayana app keeps track of all upcoming festivals on the Hindu calendar and reminds you in advance.
Personalised Astrology Around Festivals
Festivals are also a good time to look at your kundali — many families plan sankalp, donations or new beginnings around them.
Inside the app you can:
- Generate your personal Vedic kundali
- Talk to a Jyotisha for guidance around career, relationships or health
- Run kundali matching before fixing a marriage during the festival season
All of this is available inside the Dharmayana app — no fixed schedule, use it whenever you need it.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is Vaishnava Utthana Ekadashi in 2026?
Vaishnava Utthana Ekadashi 2026 falls on Saturday, 21 November 2026.
What is Vaishnava Utthana Ekadashi?
The Vaishnava reckoning of Utthana Ekadashi — the day Vishnu rises from four months of yogic sleep on Shesha and closes the Chaturmasya vow begun on Shayani Ekadashi in Ashadha. Vaishnavas often fast a day after Smartha households, following a stricter sunrise-tithi rule.
Why is Vaishnava Utthana Ekadashi observed?
The four-month Chaturmasya vow imposes month-by-month food restrictions — no leafy greens in Shravana, no yogurt in Bhadra, no milk in Ashvina, no dal or seeded vegetables in Kartika — and this Ekadashi formally lifts them. The Padma Purana places it at the centre of Vishnu's calendar, calling Kartika the dearest month, Tulasi the dearest plant, and Ekadashi the dearest day. From sundown onwards households begin Tulasi Vivah, the ceremonial wedding of the Tulasi plant to a Shaligrama stone (a fossil form of Vishnu); per the Vishnuyamala, the bride-plant should have been watered and nurtured for three months in readiness. In two Rama temples of Saurashtra a wedding invitation is sent from the bride's shrine to the groom's, and a baraat of Lalji — a child form of Vishnu — processes through the streets.
What are the other names for Vaishnava Utthana Ekadashi?
Vaishnava Utthana Ekadashi is also known as Prabodhini Ekadashi, Dev Uthani Ekadashi, Devutthana Ekadashi and Haribodhini Ekadashi.
