About
Vallabha's school is set apart by Shuddhadvaita — 'pure non-dualism'. Unlike Shankara's Advaita, it refuses to call the world an illusion; creation is the real Leela (play) of Krishna. From this flows Pushti Marg, the 'path of nourishing grace': liberation comes from God's grace alone, not ritual or knowledge. Krishna is served in Bala Swarupa, his child form, with food, song and dressing — the haveli style of worship still seen at Nathdwara in Rajasthan. Vallabha laid this out in the Anubhashya on the Brahma Sutras, the Subodhini commentary on the Bhagavata Purana, and sixteen short tracts called the Shodasha-granthah. His son Vitthalanatha succeeded him; Vitthalanatha's seven sons each founded a separate seat, and today's Goswami Maharajas descend from those seven houses.
