Narasimha Jayanti
Narasimha Jayanti marks the dusk when Vishnu broke a loophole. Hiranyakashipu's boon shielded him from man and beast, day and night, weapon and bare hand, indoors and out — so Vishnu burst from a pillar as a man-lion, dragged him to the threshold at twilight, and tore him open with claws. Observed on Vaishakha Shukla Chaturdashi.

About
The Bhagavata Purana (Canto 7) lists each clause of Hiranyakashipu's boon, and Narasimha answers them one by one. The palace doorway is neither inside nor outside. The lap is neither earth nor sky. Twilight is neither day nor night. Claws are not a weapon. Because the killing happened at sandhya, the main puja is held in Sanyakal — the hour before sunset — not at noon. Devotees take the sankalpa (vow) at midday, worship through dusk, and keep a night vigil. The fast is Ekadashi-strict: no grains the previous day, broken next morning only after Visarjan Puja and dana to a Brahmin. Lord's fury didn't end with the kill — only Prahlada's stuti calmed him. Most temples therefore worship the seated Lakshmi Narasimha, with the goddess on his lap as the cooling presence.
