When is Sita Jayanti in 2027?

What is Sita Jayanti?
Sita Navami marks Janaki's birth from a furrow — not a womb. Tradition places it on a Tuesday in Pushya Nakshatra, on Vaishakha Shukla Navami, exactly one month after Rama Navami. Married women fast through the day for their husbands' long life.
Why is Sita Jayanti observed?
The story: King Janaka of Mithila was ploughing a field to consecrate a Yajna when his plough struck a golden casket holding an infant girl. Because a ploughed furrow is called 'sita' in Sanskrit, he named her Sita; because he adopted her, she is also Janaki, and the festival is sometimes called Janaki Navami. Lore in the Ramayana frames her as a joint descent of Lakshmi and Bhumi Devi, the earth goddess — which is why she returns into the earth at the epic's close. The vrat is a suhag fast: wives pray for their husband's longevity, echoing Sita's devotion to Rama. Observance is strongest at her reputed birthplaces — Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi, Bihar, and the Janaki Mandir at Janakpur in Nepal. Note: this is separate from Janaki Jayanti, which falls on Phalguna Krishna Ashtami.
